Match the vehicle to the freight
Courier vehicles from small vans to 7.5 tonnes.
Vehicle selection depends on the load, access and route—not only the number of items. Send accurate dimensions and weight so the right option can be confirmed.
Vehicle guide
Start with the load.
These categories help with initial planning. The final vehicle is confirmed after the freight and access requirements have been reviewed.
Small and short-wheelbase vans
Documents, boxes, parcels, smaller equipment and urgent light consignments.
Arranged subject to network and vehicle availability.Long and extra-long-wheelbase vans
Longer, larger or multiple boxed consignments where additional load space is required.
Exact payload and internal dimensions are confirmed for the selected vehicle.Luton vans
Pallets, crates, furniture, equipment and bulky freight that benefits from a box body.
Wick & Flame’s core fleet includes three side-loading Luton vans with tail lifts.7.5-tonne vehicles
Larger palletised or commercial loads beyond typical van capacity.
Availability, access, operator requirements and loading arrangements must be confirmed.Tail-lift deliveries
Tell us how the freight will be loaded at both ends.
A tail lift may be needed when palletised or heavy freight cannot be loaded or unloaded using a forklift or loading dock. It does not remove the need to confirm item dimensions, weight, safe access and suitable handling equipment.
- Is a forklift available at collection?
- Is a forklift available at delivery?
- Can the vehicle reach a level, suitable unloading position?
- Are the goods safely palletised or otherwise suitable for handling?
